My Dance Record Privacy Policy
My Dance Record helps dancers and families record dance events, results, notes, photos, backups, optional social images, optional calendar entries, and optional Teacher Review updates. The app is designed to keep your dance history under your control while allowing you to share selected text updates with a teacher when you choose.
1. Information We Process
My Dance Record may process the following information on your device:
- Competition or event names, dates, locations, and multi-day event details.
- Dancer profile names and profile status.
- Dance names, dance numbers, placings, scores, adjudicator names, adjudicator scores, and notes.
- Photos you choose to add to events.
- Backup, export, restore, purchase-entitlement, review-prompt, onboarding, calendar preference, and app-setting information.
- Calendar permission status when you choose to use Apple Calendar entries.
- Teacher Review information when you choose to use that feature, including teacher profile display names, teacher codes, recovery-code records, dancer-teacher connections, text-only student updates, read/archive status, notification preferences, and device push-notification tokens.
2. How Information Is Used
Information is used to provide the app’s core functionality: recording dance events, keeping dancer histories separate, showing results, searching your dance history, exporting PDFs and backups, creating social images when requested, restoring purchases, adding or updating calendar entries when enabled, and sending selected text-only student updates to a connected teacher when requested.
3. Local Storage
My Dance Record is designed to store your core dancer records locally on your iPhone in the app’s private storage. Events, photos, backups, PDFs, and social images remain local unless you choose to export, save, or share them. The optional Teacher Review feature uses a backend service so selected text updates can be delivered to a connected teacher.
4. Photos, Files, Backups, and Exports
Photos, exported PDFs, backup files, and social images remain on your device unless you choose to save, export, or share them. Any sharing is started by you using iOS sharing, Photos, Files, Mail, Messages, AirDrop, cloud storage, or another destination you select.
5. Calendar Entries
If you enable calendar entries, the app may add, update, or delete event details such as event name, dancer name, date, and location in the Apple Calendar you choose. Calendar access can be changed at any time in iOS Settings.
6. Optional Teacher Review
Teacher Review is optional. Teachers can create or recover a teacher profile inside the app. The backend stores the teacher display name, public teacher code, recovery-code records, notification preferences, device push-notification tokens when notifications are enabled, and related technical identifiers needed to operate the inbox.
Dancers can connect a dancer profile to a teacher by entering a teacher code. When a dancer chooses to share with a teacher, the app sends text-only update data such as dancer name, event name, event date, event location, dance/result lines, and notes included in the generated update. Photos, PDFs, backups, and social images are not sent to Teacher Review.
Teacher Review is powered by Supabase. Access is limited by app authentication and database access rules so dancers can create updates for their own active teacher connections and teachers can review updates for their own teacher profile.
7. Push Notifications
If a teacher enables notifications, the app stores an Apple Push Notification service device token so a generic notification can be sent when new student updates are available. The notification text does not include dancer names, event names, results, notes, photos, PDFs, or backup data.
8. Purchases
The app may use Apple’s in-app purchase systems to unlock paid features and restore previous purchases. Purchase processing is handled by Apple. My Dance Record does not receive your full payment-card details.
9. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
My Dance Record does not use third-party analytics, advertising, targeted advertising, or tracking technologies.
10. Retention and Deletion
You control the information stored locally in the app. You can edit records, archive dancer profiles, export backups, reset app data, or uninstall the app to remove local app data, subject to normal iOS backup and device-management behaviour.
Teacher Review text updates are intended for short-term review rather than long-term storage. The default backend retention period for shared teacher updates is 180 days. 11. Children’s Privacy
My Dance Record can be used by families to record dance information for dancers of different ages, but it is intended to be managed by a parent, guardian, dancer, teacher, or responsible adult. Dancers should only share Teacher Review updates with a teacher where they have permission to do so.
12. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. When it changes, the effective date above will be updated.
